Tempe Marketplace Display — Feb 6 to Feb 9, 2014

Cactus Brick had a display at Tempe Marketplace on Feb 6 to Feb 9, 2014. The display was our largest city/train layout we have ever done. This event was to help promote THE LEGO MOVIE which opened on Feb 7th. We had Emmet and Wyldstyle from Legoland on Thursday and Friday.

January 18, 2014 Meeting

We had 24 people attend our January 18th meeting (1 new person). The main event for the meeting was our Sculpture Contest (with 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes) as well as a discussion about a full layout we are planning in conjunction with the Lego Movie release in Febuary.

Tucson Toy Train Meet & Show – Jan 10-11, 2014

We had a city/train layout at the Tucson Toy Train Meet & Show on Jan 10 and 11, 2014. We had 9 club members helping out on the display. We also had a small play area for the kids.

December 2013 Meeting

We had 14 people attend our December 21st meeting (3 new people). The main big event was the gift exchange (white elephant or dirty brickster), but we had a few things that people brought in to show:

Arizona Toy Train Show – Dec 7, 2013

We were at the Arizona Toy Train Show on Dec 7th, 2013 in Glendale, AZ. We had a great city/train layout and a play area for kids to build with either normal Lego bricks or with Duplo. Here’s some pictures of the event:

Tempe History Museum – Band Night – Dec 6th, 2013

We were at the Tempe History Museum’s Band Night on Dec 6th, 2013. In addition to 5 static displays that are going to be at the Tempe History Museum for the entire month of December, we also brought displays for their Band Night on Dec 6th. There was also a play brick area that was very busy most of the night. Here’s the pictures of our display:

October 2013 Meeting

We had 15 people attend our October 19th, 2013 meeting. We had a show and tell with 5 club members talking about how they do their building.

February 2013 Meeting

We had 19 people at our February 16th, 2013 meeting.

We discussed the upcoming Tempe History Museum show which is now on March 16th (Sat 10AM – 6PM) & March 17th (Sun 1PM – 5PM). This is the same weekend as our meeting so our next month’s meeting will be at the Tempe History Museum.

We agreed to also do a display at Scottsdale’s “Little Red Schoolhouse” for September (and probably beyond). This is in Scottsdale’s old town area.

We also were planning out the comicon layout. Nate will send out layout ideas later.

And, we had the minifig scale (modified CC standard) contest. (see below)

January 2013 Meeting

We had a record attendance of 21 people at our January 19th, 2013 meeting. Our club officers for 2013 are once again:

Secretary: Corey
Treasurer: Clark

We discussed the upcoming shows at Tempe History Museum (March 16th & 17th) and the Phx Comicon (Memorial day weekend).

We also had the micro city contest. Here’s some pictures from that as well as some pictures of other things people brought in:

The micro contest had a clear winner in the large module category and a tie in the small category. The winner in the large module category was made by Joe. The small module winners were GenYus and Clark. Here’s the winners:

December 2012 Meeting

We had 14 people attend our December 15th 2012 meeting. We were a bit distracted by the dirty brickster we planned for the meeting. However, we had a few things brought in:

The melted Lego was in the Arizona sun for a few weeks under plexiglass. The micro contest was also announced (see the post before this).
